Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire steals the spotlight today as the wins pick up there second win of the season over the Cleveland Indians.
Gardenhire, who has been Twins manager since 2002, joined Tom Kelly as the only managers in Twins history to reach 1,000 wins.
He is the fifth active manager to hit the milestone and the 10th in major league history to get every one of the wins with the same team.
Under Gardy, as the manager is affectionately referred to by fans and players alike, the Twins have taken six AL Central titles. Most recently the organization has struggled, losing over 95 games in each of their last three seasons.
The Twins earn Gardenhire the milestone win as Kyle Gibson limits Cleveland to one run in his season debut. This after Brian Dozier led off the game with a home run that would lead Minnesota to the 7-3 win.
Gibson (1-0) allowed three hits in five-plus innings as the Twins snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Indians. They hadn't beaten Cleveland since August 24.
