MNDOT Announces More Than 300 Summer Construction Projects

Posted: Updated:

Today, MNDOT announced an ambitious summer construction season of more than 300 road projects, costing about $1.1 billion.

Here's a quick rundown of some the major ones in our area.

  • More than $6.5 million worth of cable barriers will be installed on 60 miles of I-94, between Barnesville and Ashby.
  • On Highway 10, drivers may encounter lane closures while crews replace the bridge over the Buffalo River between April and August.
  • And in the northern valley, about 13 miles of Highway 2 will be repaired between Erskine and Highway 32 all summer long.

MNDOT leaders say the amount of projects and spending are similar to last year's construction season.

"I always kind of refer to that as building a Vikings Stadium all in one construction season," MNDOT Commissioner, Charlie Zelle said.
