Local Red Cross Workers Lend a Hand in Washington

The American Red Cross continues it humanitarian work in Oso, Washington and surrounding areas as the relief efforts continue after a landslide in the area destroyed homes and roads.

The Dakotas Region Red Cross has sent two members to the relief efforts. Chief Communications Officer, Brian Shawn, will be in the area for 7 to 9 days to serve on the Red Cross public affairs team. His duties include social engagement along with digital content of the Red Cross response in the area.

Disaster Mental Health volunteer, Nancy Sprynczynatyk of Rapid City, SD is also in Oso this week. Nancy is assisting local mental health and spiritual care volunteers who are caring for families who have lost loved ones and are waiting for word on the missing. She is also helping with responders on the scene as well.
