Man Killed After Running into Concrete Pillar

Posted: Updated:

A man traveling from his home in Devils Lake, North Dakota, to Minneapolis was killed after he struck the center of a concrete pillar on Interstate-29.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says 53-year-old Monte Allen Armentrout was driving his 1998 Ford Minivan and passed a vehicle on the Interstate and merged into the left lane. The vehicle began weaving back and forth and he tried to regain control without braking.

The vehicle began to fish tail and he turned right, hitting the center concrete pillar of an overhead with the front driver's door and quarter panel. The crash happened at mile marker 118 near the Buxton, North Dakota, exit.

Armentrout died as a result of his injuries. He was wearing his seat belt.
