Metal Detectors Installed at Target Field Ahead of Twins Home Opener

Posted: Updated:

A big change every Minnesota Twins fans will notice.  The team is stepping up security less than two weeks before the home opener.

On Tuesday, they unveiled the new walk-through metal detectors at Target Field.   It's part of Major League Baseball's effort to standardize security at parks across the country. The Twins say it's the most effective way to keep Target Field safe.

"We will have alternative screening processes available for anyone who does not want to go through the device," explains Senior Director of Ballpark Operations Dave Horsman.  "If someone has something that'll set the device off they can go through the device then we'll do a secondary screening to verify that they're clear."

The metal detectors will be used at the home opener on Monday, April 7 when the Twins take on the Oakland Athletics.
