Aviators in the Red River Valley are mourning the death of Casselton, North Dakota native Jim Maroney. The pilot died this weekend after his plane crashed in Tennessee.

On Monday, crews were still working to recover the wreckage from the area where the plane went down Sunday night south of Knoxville. He was flying to an airshow in Florida.

Maroney was a frequent feature in the Fargo AirSho. He was also a group commander for the 119th fighter wing in Fargo, before retiring in 2002.
