Memberships for Fresh, Healthy Food Donated to Area Non-Profits

People in the community, who depend on area non-profits, will be getting more fresh fruits and vegetables this year thanks to a local food cooperative.

On Friday, the Prairie Roots Food Co-op gave free memberships to nine area non-profit organizations that provide food-related services. Co-op President Tim Mathern said it's important that everyone in our community have access to fresh and healthy food.

"We look forward to being long-term partners with the organizations gathered here today as we build a strong, local food system that serves everyone in our community," Mathern said.

The Emergency Food Pantry, Dorothy Day House, Red Cross, YWCA, Great Plains Food Bank, Salvation Army, Gladys Ray Shelter, Churches United, and New Life Shelter all received the memberships.
