Even though it may not look or feel like it outside, Thursday is the official first day of spring and that has many thinking gardening.

It's too early to do any planting but now is the perfect time to get your gardening gloves ready and pick out the perfect plants. We talked with the experts at Shotwell Floral in Fargo who have a few recommendations on how to start.

Experts say right now is the perfect time to plan before you start planting, it not only saves time and money but ensures you get what you want. Typically the best time to start planting is around Memorial Day weekend or after.

Cleaning up flower beds and borders along with cleaning your gardening tools are also great ways to get ready for the gardening season.

It's advised that you use a fertilizer such as a slow release, all purpose, or bloombooster. Even using a fungicides and pesticides can also help your plants.
