Former North Dakota Attorney General Nicholas Spaeth has died.  Lieutenant Joel Vettel of the Fargo Police Department confirms that he died Sunday afternoon in Fargo.

Spaeth served as Attorney General from 1985 until 1992.  In '92 he ran for governor against Ed Schafer.  After losing that election he became the senior vice president and chief legal officer for H and R Block and later worked for the Federal Home Loan Bank as executive vice-president.

Spaeth was 64 years old.

The Fargo Police Department says they got a call for service around 1:45 Sunday afternoon. When they arrived to a residence in the 500 block of 8th Street South they found Spaeth's body.

The incident is still an ongoing investigation by the Fargo Police Department. The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined. There is no preliminary indication of foul play.
