Train Derails in Polk County

Posted: Updated:

No one hurt and nothing spilled in a train derailment in Polk County, Minnesota. Sheriff's deputies say it happened Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. in the city of Euclid as the train was leaving a grain yard facility.

A BNSF locomotive derailed at a point where there was a separation between railroad tracks. The sheriff's office says the locomotive was attached to one empty tanker car and a box car carrying fiberboard and corn sugar.

Two nearby roads were blocked, and the county highway department is putting up barricades to protect drivers.
