The city of Jamestown is moving ahead with the possibility of crew camps.
Growth in western North Dakota is pushing the temporary housing communities east.
An ordinance, created by the Stutsman County Commissioners, was revised by the Jamestown city attorney, so it would also fit the city.
Last night, the first reading of that ordinance was approved.
When the idea of man camps in the Jamestown area first came up about a year ago, several home owners went on the record saying, "not in my backyard!"
The city said it would be crafting ordinances to be sure the man camps don't land too close to residential neighborhoods.
But they add, with a new ethanol plant and wind facility being built in the area creating hundreds of job, people will need a place to live.
