UPDATE: Car Fire Causes More Than $25,000 in Damage

Posted: Updated:

Fire fighters in north Fargo quickly put out a vehicle fire before it got out of control. It happened in the 1500 block of 7th Street North Monday morning around 10:00 a.m.

A woman said she was attempting to start her car and heard a large bang, she then noticed her car was on fire. A City garbage truck operator was in the alley at the time and attempted to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher but was unsuccessful.

When fire crews arrived they discovered the fire had spread from the vehicle to the garage. The fire was quickly extinguished.

The vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire and the garage sustained significant fire damage.  Damage for the garage and vehicle is estimated at $25,000-$30,000. There was also minor fire damage to a second unattached garage that was located about six feet away.  A section of the vinyl siding melted because of the heat.

Firefighters are investigating to find out why the car caught fire. No one was injured.
