Six North Dakota State basketball players scored in double digits as the Bison posted a 78-68 victory over Denver in the regular season finale on Saturday, Mar. 1, at the Bison Sports Arena. The win was NDSU's seventh straight and 12th in the last 13 games.
Top-seeded NDSU will play the winner of No. 4 seed Denver and No. 5 seed South Dakota in the semifinals of the Summit League Championship in Sioux Falls, S.D., at 6 p.m. on Mar. 10.
On Senior Night, four of NDSU's six seniors scored in double figures, led by Taylor Braun with 16 points and Jordan Aaberg with 13. Marshall Bjorklund, Kory Brown and Lawrence Alexander all scored 12 points, and TrayVonn Wright added 11.
NDSU (23-6, 12-2 Summit League) shot a season-high 62.8 percent (27-of-43) in the contest. The Bison also made 22-of-27 free throw attempts for an 81.5-percent effort at the line.
Denver (15-14, 8-6 Summit) made 15-of-32 attempts from three-point range, coming within one make of matching the Bison Sports Arena record. Junior guard Brett Olson led the Pioneers with 20 points and five rebounds.
The Bison posted a 32-19 rebounding advantage and a 44-10 margin in points in the paint.
Brown was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, Bjorklund was 5-of-6, and Aaberg was 6-of-8. NDSU leads the nation in team field goal percentage.
Denver held a brief lead at 6-4 four minutes into the contest, but the Bison went on a 19-8 run and led 27-22 at halftime. NDSU scored 51 points in the second half and never trailed.
