Newman Signs Founder Dead at Age 80

The man who founded a prominent billboard company in North Dakota has died. Harold Newman passed away Thursday at age 80.

Newman started Newman Signs in 1956, which has its headquarters in Jamestown. The company grew over the decades, eventually acquiring dozens of other sign companies.

In 1998, naming rights of the baseball stadium where the FM Redhawks play were sold to Newman Outdoor Advertising.

A statement from the company says details of funeral services will be released at a later date.
