Posted: Updated:

The USA Women's Hockey team returned to Olympic action Monday morning to take on Sweden in the semi-final game.

Team USA came out fired up and dominated the 1st period, scoring 3 goals and out shooting Sweden 29-1.

The US added 3 more goals the rest of the game including one from Monique Lamoureux (with an assist from her twin sister Jocelyne) and won easily 6-1, out shooting the Swedes 70-9.

With its win, the U.S. women advance to the gold-medal game, which they'll play on Thursday against the winner of Monday's other contest between Canada and Switzerland.

The U.S. women's win also guarantees that they'll win either a gold or a silver medal, assuring that they'll win a medal of some color for the fifth straight time since women's hockey debuted in the Olympics in 1998.

Monday's goal scorers were Alex Carpenter, Kacey Bellamy, Amanda Kessel, Monique Lamoureux, Megan Bozek and Brianne Decker.

Jessie Vetter was the winning goalie.
