Man Found Outside being Treated for Hypothermia

Posted: Updated:

West Fargo Police rescued a man who was found outside in negative temperatures early Friday morning.

Police responded to the 3400 block of Loberg Lane for a report of a suspicious man who was knocking on a woman's door around 3:36 a.m. By the time officers arrived, the man was no longer outside the home but officers were able to follow his shoe prints in the snow.

They found a 33-year-old West Fargo man lying on the ground outside a home under construction. He told police he was walking from a nearby bar and had been outside for approximately two hours.

Police say the man told them he couldn't feel his hands or feet and the officers say he appeared to be suffering from cold-related injuries. He was taken to Essentia Hospital. West Fargo police say alcohol was believed to be involved in the incident.

Valley News Live Meteorologist Robert Hahn says overnight temperatures in West Fargo were around -6 or -7 below zero with wind chills in the -20's.
