Giving Hearts Day Raises More Than $5.4 Million

Posted: Updated:

Giving Hearts Day has raised $5,477,704 million dollars this year, surpassing last year's donations that totaled $3.7 million dollars.

The event started in 2008 and helps hundreds of Minnesota and North Dakota non-profits in just 24 hours.

Since the start of Giving Hearts Day, more than $10 million has been raised.

This year, the Dakota Medical Foundation, Impact Foundation and Alex Stern Family Foundation teamed up to help 236 non-profits in 36 different communities including arts like the opera or theatres, science centers and whatever people would like to support.

One local non-profit -- Unseen -- even hosted a 5-K race Thursday. Unfortunately, you couldn't run in it. Registration was limited to just one person, so that these folks can demonstrate all of the good work that can be accomplished by just one person.
