Fargo School Board Planning Updates

Posted: Updated:

The Fargo School Board was updated Tuesday night on some big projects happening in the district.

Superintendent Jeff Schatz and business manager Brock Leitz presented the board with the planning progress on the new elementary school planned in Ed Clapp Park just off of 32nd Avenue South. Design work is being done now, with a preliminary cost estimate of just over $15 million. The next step will be getting the design out to construction companies for their bids. The school is expected to open in spring 2015.

Leitz also brought the board a cost estimate for the heating and air conditioning system for Madison Elementary, one of the elementary schools that had to shut down last summer due to extreme heat. The bids came in at $200,000 above the initial estimate, so the board chose to hold off on taking action on the project until bids for the other school buildings come in over the next few weeks.
