Norway takes gold following huge crash in men's cross-country final
One particularly harsh right turn took out three competitors in the men's cross country final individual sprint, as the race for a gold medal became a two-man dash.
-charging Teodor Peterson over the last leg of the final, finishing with a first-place time of 3:38.4. Peterson crossed 1.2 seconds later and then collapsed to the ground in exhaustion.
But three skiers wiped out into the left barricade on a crucial right turn as the race for bronze immediately became the only attainable reward. That ultimately went to Sweden's Emil Joensson, who finished nearly 20 seconds behind the leader but had intially fallen way off the pace.
