Winter Olympics Viewer's Guide: Monday, Feb. 10

Posted: Updated:

Monday has a nice assortment of events going down, with plenty of medals on the line. It's not one of the best days, but anything that includes ice hockey, curling and downhill skiing is usually worth at least a glance. Here's what you can find when.

6 a.m. ET – Women's super-combined downhill skiing, NBCOlympics.com: Julia Mancuso is the most familiar name affiliated with this event for the United States, but she's actually not considered a favorite to medal, despite taking silver at the 2010 Games. Who might? A girl named Mikaela Shiffrin, who's just 18 and won the slalom world cup title last year. No medals will be taken in this event on Monday.

5 a.m. ET – USA women's ice hockey, NBC Sports Network: The Red, White and Blue will play against Switzerland in their Group A game of pool play.

5 a.m. ET – USA women's curling vs. Switzerland, USA Network: Get ready for curling talk to come back into your life for the next two weeks.

7:15 a.m. ET – Men's 1500m short-track speed skating, NBCOlympics.com: J. R. Celski, who won bronze in Vancouver, is in this event. He won the gold in the world cup in 2013. One of the bigger events for American gold medal chances. Most interesting thing about Celski? He's connected with Macklemore.

10 a.m. ET – Women's hockey, Finland vs. Canada, MSNBC: The Canadians return after a resounding win against Switzerland to face a Finnish team that lost to the USA 3-1.

10 a.m. ET – Men's 500m speed skating final, NBCOlympics.com: Tucker Fredericks is the American hoping for a medal here. Joji Kato and Keiichiro Nagashima of Japan are the favorites.

10 a.m. ET – Men's biathlon, freestyle skiing qualifying, NBCOlympics.com: Tim Burke has the best chance of any American ever to give the USA its first medal in Olympic biathlon history.

11:15 a.m. ET – Women's luge, NBC Sports Network: Luge! Watch for a woman named Erin Hamelin, who's from New York and competing in her third Winter Olympics.

1 p.m. ET – Men's moguls final, NBCOlympics.com: Moguls are killer on the knees and really a wonder to watch. One of the most grueling Winter Olympic events out there.

1:15 p.m. ET – Women's normal hill individual final, NBCOlympics.com: Still just a couple of teenagers, the United States' Sarah Hendrickson and Japan's Sara Takanashi are the favorites to take the top two spots on the podium in this inaugural Winter Olympic event.

3 p.m. ET – Women's curling, USA vs. Switzerland, NBC Sports Network: This is a replay of the match from earlier in the day.
