A packed day of action Sunday includes the finale of the first-ever figure skating team event. Host Russia is looking good to take home at least a medal after finishing the short program portion of the team event atop the standings. Americans Ashley Wagner and the ice dancing duo of Meryl Davis and Charlie White will look to keep Team USA in the medal hunt.
The day kicks off, however, with American Bode Miller shooting for his first gold medal in men's downhill in his fifth Olympics after putting down some incredible runs in training.
-- Medal event
2 a.m. ET – Men's Downhill Alpine Skiing, NBCOlympics.com: In his fifth Olympics, 36-year-old Bode Miller put down the best times in his first and third training runs and is looking to improve on his bronze-medal finish in downhill in 2010. After shredding his final training run, with only one other skier within a second of his time, Miller looks like the man to beat on Sunday.
4 a.m. ET – Women's Slopestyle Finals, NBCOlympics.com: With semifinals slated for earlier Sunday, the first ever medals will be handed out in Women's Slopestyle. Austrian Anna Gasser put down the best run during qualifying and moved straight to the finals. Among her competition is Australian sensation Torah Bright and American Jamie Anderson, who had the second best score in the qualifying round.
11:05 a.m. ET – Team Ladies Free Skating, NBC Sports Network: After a somewhat surprising fourth-place finish in the ladies short program, American Ashley Wagner will look to bounce back in her final team event. Russian Yulia Lipnitskaya wowed the home crowd and helped keep Russia atop the team standings with her first place finish in the short program. Team USA needs a big performance from Wagner to stay in good position for a medal in the first-ever team figure skating event.
11:30 a.m. ET – Men's Singles Luge, Run 4, NBCOlympics.com: The Russians have a chance to see one of their countrymen win gold when Albert Demchenko heads to the hill. He and German Felix Loch traded the top spot after the first two runs. Loch holds a slight lead over Demchenko, which could make for some drama in the luge with a nation rooting for one of their own.
12:10 p.m. ET – Team Dance Free Dance, NBC Sports Network: Meryl Davis and Charlie White wowed the crowd during the short dance portion of the team figure skating event, earning first place in their discipline. Team USA is now third in the standings. Depending how the men's and ladies' free skates go earlier that day, the American duo could be skating for a first-ever team event medal.
