Restaurant Report Card

Posted: Updated:

It's time for your weekly dose of our Valley News Live exclusive Restaurant Report Card. Every Tuesday we check out the health inspectors reports to find out which restaurants that you frequent, might have something to hide in the kitchen. Tonight, Valley News team's Eric Crest reports on which restaurants fell short during inspection time and which one excelled.

This isn't the first time you've heard about Buffalo Wild Wings off of 42nd Street South on the Restaurant Report Card. And it might have something to do with their repeat violations.

In their last two health inspections seven of the nine violations were all repeat offenses. The majority of those write ups from the health inspector had to do with cleanliness issues.

Some of the violations include coolers with food build up on their floors, service trays at the wait station that required cleaning, cook line and prep areas that needed sweeping and dumpster's that always seem to open when the health inspector shows up.

The next restaurant, Hardee's off of Main Avenue has had three inspections in the past couple of months. Just one month ago 14 violations were counted in just one visit. Fast forward to just one week later and they were only cited for six more citations.

So what were the standouts? The inside of their ice cream display needed cleaning, their pop machine also needed some elbow grease, and even a hand sink was deemed unclean.

The general manager tells us since their last inspection they've really cleaned the place up. With a total of zero violations on the last inspection it shows. They now have a cleaning list in place to ensure that all the jobs get done on the daily according to their general manager.

The last restaurant we visited was Jimmy John's near the NDSU campus. There they haven't had a violation in over a year.

"I think ever since I took over the management position we haven't had a violation," says general manger Nick Christlieb.

Christlieb says all of his staff work hard to keep the reputation of his shop in the right graces with the public.

"It's cleaning... it's the easiest thing in the world to do outside of making sandwiches," jokes Christlieb.

Congratulations to Jimmy John's on this week's Clean Plate Award.
