Update: Thief River Falls Man Charged with Solicitation of Children

  The manager of a northwestern Minnesota Dairy Queen has been charged with 3 counts of "Electronic Solicitation of Children".

  51-year old Marty D. Johnson of Thief River Falls made his initial court appearance in Hallock Friday afternoon.

  Johnson allegedly made repeated attempts from his computer to solicit sex from a deputy, who was posing as a 15-year old girl. Johnson even allegedly mailed a package containing sex related items to the Deputy.

  If convicted, Johnson faces a maximum sentence of 3-years in prison for each of the 3 counts against him.  As of late Friday afternoon, Johnson remained in jail on a bond of 100-thousand dollars.

  On January 30, 2014 at approximately 9:45 a.m. Marty D. Johnson (51) of Thief River Falls was arrested in Pennington County.

 Johnson was arrested by the Kittson County Sheriff's Department and is charged with 1) Electronic Solicitation of Children, MN Statute #609.352 Subd. 2a (1) (2) (3). This criminal charge carries a penalty of imprisonment for not more than three years, or to a payment of a fine not More than $5,000, or both.

  Johnson is currently being held in the Kittson County Jail and is expected to have his first court appearance in Hallock on Friday January 31st, 2014.

    Two drivers were hurt in a headon collision in Otter Tail County Saturday night.The Minnesota State Patrol says Jacquelyn Burrows, 63, of Pelican Rapids, was seriously injured. Troopers say Kelsey Laugen, 18, of Elk River, was hurt with non-life threatening injuries.According to an agency report, Burrows was traveling North on Highway 59 near 450th Street when she crossed the center line and hit Laugen head on.
