Moorhead to Choose Design for I-94 Interchange

Posted: Updated:

Moorhead residents gathered at Courtyard by Marriott Thursday night, hoping to learn more about a big construction project at the Interstate 94/Highway 75 interchange.

The project, which is slated to begin in 2016, is meant to improve traffic flow and safety in the area. Three preliminary design options were presented during Thursday's open house. One option is a diverging diamond design, another is a loop option, and the last is a partial cloverleaf.

While the diverging diamond is the least expensive plan, the project manager says any of the designs will help take on the traffic needs of a growing community.

"We want to improve the performance of the interchange and ultimately increase the safety aspects," says MNOT Project Manager, Seth Yliniemi.

Moorhead city officials hope to have a plan selected this spring.
