Possible Change Headed for Minnesota HS Football

Posted: Updated:

The Minnesota State High School League voted today to start district football scheduling in 2015 -- placing schools in districts based on enrollment and geography.

The conferences as they are now will cease to exist. Now the MSHSL says they'll try to keep certain rivalries together but the move will make playing out of state games, like the Breckenridge-Wahpeton rivalry, virtually impossible with the move. Also in 2015, practice will start on August 10 and the first games of the regular season will be allowed to be played on Saturday, August 22 so that the prep bowl can be played two weeks earlier than normal.
