UPDATE

One person was killed in Tuesday's shooting at an electrical engineering building at Purdue University, campus police Chief John Cox told reporters. Purdue University confirms the victim is a male.

One person was shot and one taken into custody following the shooting. A university spokesperson said the shooting took place shortly after noon in the Electrical Engineering Building.

A text alert reported shots fired and requested people shelter in place.  No identities have been released. A news conference is being held mid-afternoon. Updates will be available following that news conference.

A shooting has been reported at an electrical engineering building on the campus of Purdue University, a post on the school's official Twitter account said Tuesday afternoon.  The post asked people on campus to "shelter in place."

Details about the shooting weren't immediately available, but CNN is reporting a suspect is in custody after a reported shooting on the campus of Purdue University. The school was placed on Lockdown as officers conducted a floor-by-floor, room-by-room search of the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering.

The university, located in West Lafayette, Indiana, had more than 30,000 undergraduate students last school year.
