Firefighters in Minnesota battled sub-zero temperatures and flames after a fire Thursday morning at a business in Gonvick, Minnesota. Fire trucks and hoses were freezing in the temperatures near -30 below zero as they fought the fire at the town's only grocery store, Vandy's Country Market.

A Gonvick firefighter tells us they got the call around 3:40 a.m. and fire departments from Clearbrook and Bagley helped put out the fire.  He says they realized the city's water tower was getting close to being empty and they had to haul water from Clearbrook. He adds that running water in town should not be impacted.

As of Thursday evening, the fire was still smoldering because firefighters were not able to enter the building to get it completely out.  One Gonvick firefighter tells us the basement of the business is filled with water and the building is partially collapsed.  They won't be able to determine a cause until they can get inside and investigate.

Gonvick is located approximately 85 miles east of Grand Forks, North Dakota, or about 20 miles north of Bagley, Minnesota.
