Former NDSU tight end Matt Veldman will likely make his NFL debut in his home state this Sunday. The Detroit Lions signed Veldman off their practice squad and he's expected to make the trip to Minneapolis this weekend to take on the Vikings. Veldman signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars last year as an undrafted rookie out of North Dakota State, but spent the entire season on injured reserve after tearing his ACL during the preseason. After being waived by Jacksonville in June, the Lions signed him for offseason workouts, but released him after training camp. He spent nine weeks on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad before returning to Detroit last week.
