Layaway Santas Pay For $5,000 of Other People's Gifts

Posted: Updated:

The Layaway Santas are at it again in 2013, paying off thousands of dollars worth of merchandise at a South Fargo K-Mart.

K-Mart manager Nick Bosh says a group of people came into the store and paid off $2,000 worth of layaways, pushing this years total to almost $5,000.  He says they don't say who they are, but simply hand over a check for the amount they want to pay. The only stipulation for most, Bosh explains, is that the money is used to pay off children's toys or clothes.

Bosh said the most recent payment was for $2,000, but several other people have also been in the giving mood.  He estimates close to 25 different instances of "Layaway Santas" paying off other people's gifts this season.

Bosh estimates about 30 families have been helped so far, and he expects that number to rise over the weekend. This is the third year in a row that Layaway Santas have spread holiday cheer at the K-Mart along South University Drive.
