Dr. Stephanie Corneliussen says people really need to set realistic expectations. She says most people are busy and stressed without adding in the holidays. It is a balance between work, planning for the holidays and spending more time with more family. It often causes people to become more irritable and cranky.
Corneliussen says people need to, "figure out what you can cut back on this time of the year." She says, "maybe you don't spend extra time at work or cut down on the kids' activities or cut down on your expectations or what thoughts of what Christmas should be."
It's also important to do some "self care". You can't expect to keep up with the hustle and bustle of the holidays if you don't take care of yourself. Don't let yourself get to rundown and tired and try to keep yourself on your regular schedule.
