UPDATE

The Salvation Army announced Monday that a gold Krugerrand coin was deposited in e Fleet Farm kettle on December 14. This coin is valued at $1,250. The coin came wrapped in a $5 bill. This is the 11th year that a gold coin wrapped in a bill has been dropped in the Red Kettle.

The Salvation Army says it is deeply grateful for this generous donation. The organization reports it is only at about 31% of their seasonal goal.

There are still a number of shifts to fill December 16-24. If you are interested in ringing the bell, call 701-356-2691.

ORIGINAL STORY

The Salvation Army announced on Wednesday that two 1/10oz gold coins were deposited in two separate kettles on Saturday, December 7. One was at Fleet Farm and the other was dropped at Walmart on 52nd Avenue South in Fargo.  The coins are 2008 Austrian Philharmonic

This is the eleventh year a gold coin has been found in a Fargo Kettle.

"We're so grateful to the individual who donated these coins to us.  It has become a tradition in this community and we are grateful to receive them every year," said Major Byron Medlock of The Salvation Army. 

As of Wednesday, December 11, The Salvation Army says they are at about 28% of their goal. A number of bell ringing shifts are still open between December 16-24. They encourage anyone with some spare time to sign up for a volunteer spot. If you are interested in signing up for bell ringing, please give us a call at 701-356-2691.
