It appears Bemidji takes the top prize in our viewing area, for being the hardest hit by our storm that finished blowing through today. Bemidji received 18-inches of snow over the past 3 days.
Paul Bunyon and Babe the Blue Ox woke up with snow way over their ankles. Many folks made their way around town by having to hop over waist high ridges of snow, plowed into the middle of streets.
All over town, an army of shop keepers were busy shoveling the sidewalks in front of their stores.
Nikki Miller, Bemidji: "Can't say I'm terribly thrilled about it. It's a lot. But, I guess it's a White Christmas."
Christian Hart, Bemidji: "Bemidji wins? That's great."
Reporter: "Are you having a fun morning?"
Hart: "I always have a little bit of fun. I get to use my new chipper here."
And despite the fact that snow is piled waist high on most streets in Bemidji, you won't hear a lot of folks complaining. They'll tell you it's good for business, especially for folks like Gary Gregg, who started sweeping sidewalks at 2 a.m..
Gary Gregg, Bemidji: "Great, great for business, great for northern Minnesota."
Yes, if you sell snowmobiles or snow blowers, Christmas came early to Bemidji.
Reporter: "So, how are the snow blower sales?"
Dave Smith, MJB Home Center: "You know, they've been doing well. Not as strong as I though they would be, but we've been doing well with it. I assume in the next few days we'll get more of it. But, we are down to 6 units at this point."
So now as they finish cleaning up a foot and a half of snow here, it's time to brace fro some serious cold.
Two Harbors in eastern Minnesota, along Lake Superior takes the grand prize for snowfall. They received 42-inches.
