Roads In Town Will Stay Icy

Posted: Updated:

Just after the snow finally stops, Fargo Public Works now has other conditions to worry about. With the cold moving in, and wind picking up, the roads are slick.

The cold temperatures mean the snow will not be melting anytime soon. Supervisor Lee Anderson says what is left on the roads will most likely stay on the roads until we see warmer temps. He explains the salts are not effective with the freezing temperatures, so the roads will remain slippery for drivers.

But street crews will be out throughout the day sanding the roads to try and provide traction for drivers. Also, Anderson says the night crew will go over some of the roads again to try and scrape some of the ice off.

Until then police advise drivers to keep safe speeds on the roads and be aware of the conditions.
