ST. LOUIS - North Dakota State had 14 players selected to the All-Missouri
Valley Football Conference first and second teams Monday, Dec. 2, by a vote
of the league's head coaches, sports information directors and media.
Eight NDSU players on the first team were quarterback Brock Jensen, fullback
Andrew Grothmann, left tackle Billy Turner, wide receiver Zach Vraa, nose
guard Ryan Drevlow, middle linebacker Grant Olson, cornerback Marcus
Williams and strong safety Colten Heagle.
Six NDSU players on the second team were running back Sam Ojuri, left guard
Zack Johnson, tight end Kevin Vaadeland, wide receiver Ryan Smith (also
second team return specialist), right defensive end Kyle Emanuel and punter
NDSU right guard Tyler Gimmestad, defensive tackle Leevon Perry and
cornerback CJ Smith were honorable mention.
Jensen last week was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year and
Craig Bohl was voted Bruce Craddock Coach of the Year for the third straight
season. South Dakota linebacker Tyler Starr was voted Defensive Player of
the Year and Youngstown State running back Martin Ruiz was selected as both
Newcomer of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
No. 1-ranked North Dakota State (11-0) won its third straight Missouri
Valley Football Conference championship with an 8-0 league record and earned
the top overall seed for the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
