Hundreds attended the funeral service for murder victim Samantha Wickenheiser this afternoon at Living Waters Lutheran Church in Fargo.
Though laughter broke through the tears as friends and family revisited memories in many pictures, in the end, sadness prevailed as friends remembered a 23-year-old woman whose life was tragically taken.
The service started at 2:00 in a sanctuary filled with more than three dozen flower arrangements.
A photo montage showed Sam growing up with friends, family and holding her two boys.
Sam's obituary described how she loved art, music, volleyball, basketball, the outdoors and animals- at one time she even aspired to be a veterinarian.
It was apparent that Sam loved people immensely and those there loved her too.
"We'll remember stories and we'll care for each other in the middle of this and we will be a community together. But we care for one another because we know today that Sam stands with our redeemer," said Pastor Bob Bekkerus in his message.
A memorial fund has been established for Samantha's two boys Korbin and Blake- both under two years old. Donations to that fund can be sent to Gate City Bank in Fargo at 3909 13th Ave. S., Fargo ND 58103
30-year-old Moorhead man Ward Allen Berg was also killed in this incident. Valley News Live wanted to share information about his funeral arrangements, but the family has asked to keep it private.
Berg's family has also set up a fund to benefit his wife and three kids. If you are interested in donating, contact any Gate City Bank in North Dakota or Minnesota.
Former Bison QB Brock Jensen has been released from the Miami Dolphins. Just two months ago, the quarterback was invited to training camp as a free agent.
