SUPPORT FOR COACH JONAS CONTINUES AT WEST FARGO SCHOOL BOARD

Posted: Updated:

There wasn't an empty chair in the room at the West Fargo School Board meeting. Unwavering support continues to follow Coach Jim Jonas after his recent firing as assistant football and basketball coach. Brent Tehven, a former athlete who played under Jonas' coaching said,

"Jim's teaching style is a based on the Packer way, influencing many including myself. Several words come to mind...pride, passion, hard work...He guided us to set and achieve our goals both on and off the field," Tehven told the board.

Advocates say they collected 1,244 signatures in support of Jonas. No action was taken by the school board. A written reprimand was placed in Jonas' personnel file citing behavior problems that prompted the district's action.
