Man Arrested for Alleged Assault with Axe Handle

The West Fargo Police Department arrested a man Sunday morning after an alleged assault with an axe. Officers were dispatched to the Sanford Emergency Room to take a report of an assault that reportedly occurred in West Fargo.

The assault allegedly took place around 3:00 Sunday morning.  The victim, 24-year-old Cole Lebrun of West Fargo, and a witness, told police Lebrun had been hit in the head with a blunt object, knocking him unconscious. The witnesses were able to identify the suspect in the case, along with the location of where the assault happened, which was the 200 block of Morison Street in West Fargo. 

Officers found the suspect, 22-year-old Erik Erdmann, at his residence in West Fargo. Officers also recovered an axe handle, which was the weapon believed to have been used in the assault.

Erdmann was arrested for aggravated assault, and taken to the Cass County Jail.  Cole Lebrun was admitted to Sanford for significant head injuries and remains hospitalized.
