Fire Officials Investigating Suspicious Fire

Posted: Updated:

Fire officials are investigating a suspicious fire on Fargo's south side. The call came in around 10:30 Friday morning about smoke from a multi-family complex at 1204 3rd Avenue South, which is near the Cass County courthouse.

The person who called 911 said they could see light smoke coming from the building. Fire crews located the source of the smoke at the base of an apartment doorway, which Captain Craig Nelson tells us is suspicious since there isn't anything in a doorway that would usually start a fire.

The fire was already extinguished when fire crews arrived. No one was in the second-story unit when the fire started, but others in the building were evacuated. There is light fire and smoke damage to one apartment and the hallway. None of the other apartments were damaged.

The fire captain says appears suspicious in nature and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
