550lb. Wild Boar Shot in Northwest North Dakota

Posted: Updated:

A North Dakota rancher has a wild story to tell after he shot a 550 pound wild boar.

19 year old Brady Ganskop says he thought a cow was out of his pasture, but realized it was a "pig" when he got closer.

The Ganskops have land near Northgate, which is close to the Canadian border in northwestern North Dakota.

He says he has talked to the North Dakota Game and Fish Department about the incident. He says they don't recommend you shoot wild boars, but he says they told him they also don't want them in the area.

A friend of Ganskop butchered the boar for him, but he says he is not sure he wants to eat it. He doesn't think it would taste very good.

Ganskop says there are rumors that another boar is in the area.
