North Dakota State senior middle linebacker Grant Olson has suffered a torn ACL in his left knee and will likely miss the rest of the season.
Head coach Craig Bohl met with the media Monday afternoon to confirm the news.
The injury occurred on the third play of the 2nd half last Saturday against Illinois State. Olson tackled Redbirds running back Cameron Hunt after a gain of two yards then laid on the turf clutching at his left knee. The Plymouth, Minnesota native was helped off the field and was later seen on the sideline standing on crutches with his jersey and pads removed.
Olson led the Bison with 79 tackles this season and Bohl has called him the smartest and most instinctive player he's ever coached. He was an All Missouri Valley 1st team selection last season after leading the Bison with 148 tackles including 51 solos, 11.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks
