It's the weekend hunters have been waiting for all year long, the deer opener. Governor Mark Dayton will be in Fergus Falls, MN, Friday to host the state's 11th annual Governor's Deer Hunting Opener.

The three day long event began with events on Thursday, and continues Friday and Saturday, with educational demos, a Gould Brothers Exhibition Trick Shooting Performance and much more.

Gov. Dayton will be joined by DNR Commissioner Tom Landwehr and other dignitaries to kick off the 2013 deer rifle season. More than 500,000 are expected to hunt this season in Minnesota.

Hunting will start Saturday morning in Minnesota, for those in North Dakota you can start hunting as early as Noon on Friday.

A reminder to hunters, you must wear both a hat and outer garment above the waistline totaling at least 400 square inches of solid daylight fluorescent orange.

Scheels even has some new comfortable "blaze orange" clothes and new this year a Cogburn realtree camo mountain bike, with 4-inch wide tires to help you get through anything, in-case you need a rest from walking.
