Scheels Arena Prepares Ice for Olympic Curling Trials

Posted: Updated:

The ice at Scheels Arena in south Fargo is looking different these days. Crews are preparing for a gathering of Olympic hopefuls. The arena will host the 2014 Olympic curling trials beginning on Sunday, November 10 through Sunday, November 17.

The ice has to be prepped in a specific way for curling. Crews spray water droplets onto the ice, which form what's called pebble on freezing. The texture helps the stone curl to the inside or outside and it moves down the ice.
