Fireworks Detonation Booms Through the Valley

Posted: Updated:

People up and down the valley have been asking us about a loud boom heard Thursday afternoon, loud enough to shake a house.

Valley News Live investigated, and found out the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) was supervising the detonation of fireworks at Big Top fireworks located in Cummings, ND, which is near Interstate-29 and Highway 200.

The owners of Big Top tell us they had to get rid of oversized fireworks that were found by the ATF during a random inspection. They say the fireworks were detonated during one, large explosion.

Officials would not give details about the exact reason for the detonation, and when we asked about the nature of the fireworks being destroyed we were asked to leave the premises. What we do know is that the noise is really carrying, we have received reports from people who heard it from Halstad, Minnesota to Harwood, North Dakota.

Big Top fireworks does not make their own product, this shipment came from China. They would not tell us the type or amount of fireworks involved.
