Drug Arrests near Jefferson Elementary School

FARGO, N.D. – Three people are in custody after the Fargo Police Department busted them with drugs in an apartment located near an elementary school.

After a tip from the public about heavy traffic in and out of the residence, a Narcotics Search Warrant was carried out Wednesday morning at 111 18th Street South, near Jefferson Elementary School.

Officers found 11 grams of meth, 2 grams of marijuana and 6 hydrocodone pills, along with drug paraphernalia. During the search, officers found a baby, under the age of one, laying on a bed with hydrocodone pills and a crack pipe within arms reach. Another child had meth hidden in it's clothing.

Social services was called and two of the children are currently in custody of child protective services. The Fargo Police Department says the residence was about 500 feet from the elementary school.

The three people arrested are Brady Swanson, 25, Brandon Wahl, 29, and Tawni Johnson, 25. In total, five felonies and two misdemeanors were handed down:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, within 1,000 feet of a school
  • Possession of a controlled substance (6 hydrocodone pills)
  • Child neglect and endangerment
  • Possession of marijuana (2 grams
  • Two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia

Fargo Police Lieutenant Joel Vettel says they have dealt with the three adults before, and all three have a criminal history involving drugs.
