Tuesday 4:30 a.m. Update: Fargo Police have arrested the man they say was involved in the hit-and-run involving a Fargo officer.

Sgt. James Kringlie says officers surrounded Jack Michael Christensen's apartment building at 1350 8th Avenue North for several hours overnight. Police made numerous attempts to contact him, and he finally agreed to give himself up around 4 a.m. after talking with a police negotiator.

(Original Story) FARGO -- Police are searching for a man who ran over one of their own and then drove off. It happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday near Busy Bubbles Laundry and Tanning in north Fargo.

The officer, whose name has not yet been released, had approached the suspect, 49-year-old Jack Christensen, about a Sunday case in which he was allegedly involved in multiple felonies.

Christensen allegedly ran and got into a van, and he's accused of running over the officer who was trying to stop him. Christensen was driving a tan Chevy Venture with paper license plates that say "Auto Center."

Police say they should have no trouble finding witnesses, as the incident happened in front of several people.

Christensen is six feet tall, weighs 225 pounds and has blue eyes and grey hair.

The officer was taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown.

If you have seen Christensen or the van in which he drove off, please call Fargo Police.
