Fargo Police Say Halloween was a Night for Fights

Posted: Updated:

Fargo Police say Halloween 2013 turned into a night with a lot more fights than the usual holiday or a usual Thursday night, and they say most appeared to be alcohol-related.

One random incident resulted in the arrest of a woman. Sgt. Bill Ahlfeldt says 50-year-old Jolene Kalenze is in the Cass County Jail for simple assault and drug charges.

Police say she was sitting on a bench near Broadway and Second Avenue North when a group of college-age men walked by. One of them was high-fiving his friends and may have tried to do the same with Kalenze as the group walked by, but police say she ended up punching one of the guys in the face and giving him a bloody nose.

Ahlfeldt says Kalenze was taken into custody and was found with a small amount of marijuana.
