New Report: The Flu Can Be Deadly Even to Healthy Children

Posted: Updated:

A new report from The Centers for Disease Control highlights what many parents aren't aware of: the flu can be deadly to children, even if they are healthy.

CDC researchers found most of the 830 children who died from flu-related causes between 2004 and 2012 had not gotten the flu vaccine.

The perception is that only sick children are at risk of dying from the flu, but 43% of these deaths were kids who were healthy, with no high-risk medical conditions.

The CDC recommends all children six months or older get a flu shot every year.
