Sexual Abuse & Torture Case In Cavalier

Posted: Updated:

It's a disturbing, sexual abuse and torture case in northeastern North Dakota.

Gregory Kitchens is in the Pembina County jail at Cavalier, charged with 26 counts of gross sexual imposition. The victim is his estranged wife.

It's not the kind of thing you would expect to happen in Cavalier or any town around the valley. But now, Gregory Kitchens faces over 2-dozen charges of raping his wife.

According to the criminal complaint, Gregory Kitchens choked, beat up, tied up and sexually assaulted his wife on several occasions between mid-March and April of this year. And according to the criminal complaint, Kitchens did this, while video taping the attacks. Those video tapes are now in the hands of prosecutors.

Last winter, Kitchens got a job with American Crystal and bought his wife to Cavalier from Alabama.  They lived here, in this rental home that's now occupied by another family.

However, it's in this house that Kitchens is charged with committing brutal, sadistic sexual acts that neighbors say… they never heard.

Edith Thom, Neighbor: "We saw the cops, but not… why I don't know, because he kept it pretty quiet."

Reporter: "So, you never heard any screaming or arguing or anything like that over the winter?"

Thom: "Nope. Not in the winter."

Kitchens was arrested in April when his wife, the victim in this case, finally went to the police. He's now scheduled to go to trial on December 9. If convicted he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Watch for many more details, right here on Tuesday morning.
