Posted: Updated:

It's the second day in a northwestern Minnesota murder trial and three jurors have been picked.

But it's unlikely that opening arguments will start Wednesday.

32-year old Jedidiah Troxel  faces charges of murder and criminal sexual conduct in the death of 40-year old Tanya Kamierczak (Kaz-mer-check) in August of 2012.

Kazmierczak's body was found  5-miles southeast of Thief River, along the Red Lake River.

It's expected the trial could last 3 weeks.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A northwestern Minnesota murder trial will now get underway Tuesday, following a flurry of pretrial motions today.

Thirty-two-year old Jedidiah Troxel  faces charges of murder and criminal sexual conduct in the death of 40-year old Tanya Kamierczak (Kaz-mer-check) in August of 2012. Both are from Thief River.

According to court records, Jedidiah Troxel is charged with raping and then murdering Tanya Kazmierczak, by cutting her throat.

In August of 2012, the pair was seen talking to each other at a Saturday night party at a trailer park in Thief River. The next day, Kazmierczak's body was found 5-miles southeast of Thief River by what's called, the Smiley Bridge.

Monday in court, the Judge ruled on nearly 3-dozen pretrial motions. Two of those motions concerned evidence surrounding this crime scene.

The Judge has ruled that jurors will be able to see photos of the victim here at the crime scene. The Judge has also ruled that jurors will hear a statement that Troxel made to investigators during questioning. Troxel told investigators that he had been here at the Smiley Bridge, where the body was found, even though investigators had never asked him about it.

And according to court records, footprints matching boots owned by Troxel were also found at the crime scene. Plus, evidence recovered from a rape examine of the victim, is also expected to be tied Troxel.

Jury selection in the trial is scheduled to begin Tuesday morning. It's expected the trial could last as long as three weeks.
