Park Rapids Police Searching for Armed Robbery Suspect

Posted: Updated:

PARK RAPIDS, MINN. - Authorities in Park Rapids, Minnesota, are searching for a man who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint early Thursday morning.

Police Chief Terry Eilers says around 4:45 a.m. a man entered the Holiday station on Highway 34 East in Park Rapids. He displayed sawed-off shot gun and demanded money and the cash drawer from the cashier.

The employee handed over the cash drawer and the suspect left. There was only one worker in the Holiday at the time and no one hurt. Eilers says, according to surveillance video, the suspect was in and out of the convenience store in just 31 seconds.

Police are now searching for a man they believe is about 5'0"-5'5" tall. He was wearing a dark colored "hoodie" sweatshirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes and had a blue bandana across his face.

Eilers said the suspect disappeared into the dark, but they are not sure if he had a vehicle waiting for him or not. Police found cash outside that was dropped, but say the suspect got away with the cash drawer and much of the money that was in it.

Police are looking into a few leads and Police Chief Eilers says they are trying to locate a couple people of interest. If you saw anything, you are asked to contact the Park Rapids Police Department at 218-237-2711.
